Electrocardiagrams

An electrocardiogram (EKG) is a test that records the electrical activity of the heart through small electrodes attached to the skin of the patient’s chest, arms and legs.

EKG’s are used to assess any damage to the heart, diagnose poor blood flow to the heart muscle, diagnose a heart attack and measure the effects of drugs or devices used to control the heart (such as a pacemaker).

During the EKG, several electrodes will be attached to the skin with adhesive pads to the skin of the patient’s chest, arms, and legs. The patient will lie flat while the computer creates a picture, on graph paper, of the electrical impulses traveling through the heart. The actual recording takes only a few seconds.

We are able to perform an EKG right in our office. Our specialists are readily available to complete your test as soon as possible. Call us at your earliest convenience to set up your appointment.
