Pulmonary function test
Pulmonary function test (PFT) is a lung function test that evaluates how well a patient’s lungs work. This test measures how well the lungs take in and release air, as well as how well they move gases (i.e. oxygen) from the atmosphere into the body.
A PFT can diagnose lung diseases (especially asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema), measure the severity of lung problems, find the cause of shortness of breath and check to see how well treatment for a lung disease is working.
